MOTs
Staying Safe
The MOT may seem like another burden on the motorist, but it's there for everyone's safety and we'll endeavour to make it as painless as possible for you.
There are no official reminders sent so we put a small sticker in the top right hand corner of your windscreen with the expiry date. Please phone 01273 452800 to book a MOT a couple of weeks before your current one expires. It's a good idea to book a service at the same time as we find many minor failure items can get rectified there and then, saving a return visit for a re-test.
Servicing
Times have changed
Today's modern cars are complicated pieces of machinery run by equally complicated technology. To support servicing and repairs, we have invested in the gold standard Autologic diagnostic system, an imperative to minimise the time spent identifying problems.
Manufacturer's tend to stretch service intervals to make their running costs look attractive to lease hire companies, however miss a service on some vehicles and it could be nearly 40,000 miles before an oil change, which is far from ideal. In our experience vehicles that are regularly serviced give very few problems - neglected servicing can cause some really serious issues.

Who We Are
Why We’re Unique
Western Road Garage was founded in 1956 by Les Harvey, working from just 2 lockup garages within the yard. Within a month of starting the Suez crisis resulted in petrol rationing in the UK, not a great start but things turned round and the business flourished. More lockups were rented and an extension built to house a ramp that could also be used for the newly introduced MOT testing scheme. Les's son Paul took over in the late 1980's having served his formative years at Ricardo, and run his own blast cleaning business. Gradual expansion continued to what we have now, a dedicated MOT bay, 6 vehicle lifts, a tyre bay, air conditioning service facilities, a fabrication & machining shop, and a restoration bay. But, more importantly, a stable, experienced and capable staff, who are always happy to talk to you about your car.
We believe Western Road Garage could be called unique in modern garage terms. Over the years we have taken on many varied projects, from creating the Ferrari F1 156 replica for musician Chris Rea, developing and racing the Caterham Blackbird & Fireblade cars, building & preparing race cars for Nurburging & Dubai 24 hour races, creating bespoke MINI pickups, and undertaking restoration projects included a 1929 Model A ford, 1936 Morris 10/4, Lotus 7 series 1, and many classic Mini's. Skills developed on these projects are constantly used in our workshop. Broken bolts, split exhausts, worn shafts, damaged threads, corroded chassis are some garage's nightmare - not ours, if we can fix, it we will.
